Do you ever feel forgotten?

Some days do you feel forgotten? Like when your husband forgets your anniversary or your co-workers forget to give you that report you need. Or maybe your kids forget to call or visit.
There is a group of people in Guatemala that were forgotten. A whole group of people. Forgotten.

When our team goes to Guatemala we are going to serve alongside missionaries, Michael & Rocky Beene. Michael recently told our group that there is a level of racism in Guatemala that we as Americans could not even begin to understand. Most Guatemalans see the people of the villages near Rio Dulce as less than human. They don’t see them as important or even worth considering. Consequently, the Guatemalan government did not even include them in their census!
But God hasn’t forgotten them, has He? He sent His people to show and share the love of God to a people who are not forgotten.

Here is a quote from the Faith In Action website:

“Most of the people we are reaching are plagued with witchcraft, illiteracy, severe health issues, and very poor living conditions. To these people, for the most part, the only Gospel they will ever read is the works of our hands and lives. Saving lives and relieving their incredible pain and suffering with medical help so touches them that they open their hearts to us. God gently begins to break down all of the walls Satan has put up with fear and superstition as they realize God so cares for them that He sent his ambassadors to help them.
For the people in these extremely remote villages we construct safe houses, churches, schools, clinics, and facilitate all types of economic and agricultural developments. We work with volunteer teams to bring in the expertise to build major infrastructure improvements to areas that are completely isolated. Some of the things that we bring to these people are bridges over swamps to facilitate their contact to the outside world, provide fresh water by drilling wells, construct churches, schools, clinics.”

As Cristina, Maria and I prepare for our trip we pray that the people of Rio Dulce would not see us as Americans, or outsiders or rich or anything except this - an extension of the heart of God. We pray that they would see God alone in all that we do and that our actions would further the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Are you praying for us? Let us know in the comments! It is only through the strength of the Lord that we can accomplish His mission.

We're Going to Guatemala!!

Dear Friends and Family,

Greetings! We hope this letter finds you and your families well. Another school year has begun for the Felix household and we are looking for opportunities to grow in the Lord and help others seek Him. One such opportunity has been presented to us by our church Journey to travel with them on a short term missions trip to Rio Dulce, Guatemala. We will be departing on a flight from Miami on October 7th and return October 14th. We (Cristina, Maria and Kimberly) will be working with a mission organization called Faith In Action whom we as a church support. Faith In Action seeks to reach isolated people groups who may never hear the name of Jesus otherwise. If you would like to know more about Faith In Action the website is fiaministries.com.

The mission of Journey and Faith In Action as well as our own is to follow the example of Jesus and His instruction to care for the poor and widows, guide children in His ways, share His story and invite others to be a part of it. We are excited for this new adventure God has for us. We want to invite you to be a part of it by joining us in prayer and supporting us financially. Some prayer requests for us include:

That we would have the physical ability and strength to participate
That the Lord would use this time to bring us closer to Him
That we would be a blessing and encouragement to the missionaries there
And most importantly, far above our health, safety and pleasure that we would fearlessly and lovingly share Christ’s good news

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter. If you have any questions or comments please contact us whatever method is most convenient for you. If you would like to support us financially please send checks made out to Kimberly Felix and send to our address:
